The Kingon P2-E6 is a pulse dose portable oxygen concentrator delivering up to 1,200 ml/min — approximately equivalent to 6 LPM — across six flow settings, at 90% oxygen concentration (−3% / +6%) at every setting. It is physically identical to the Kingon P2-E at 1.98kg and 22.1 × 8.5 × 16 cm. The difference is a sixth setting and 200 ml/min of additional output.

Specifying the Right Model

All three portable Kingons share the same chassis. Selection comes down to output and the number of settings, and the correct choice is the one that covers the prescribed setting with room above it.

Note the bottom two rows. Weight does not change across the range, and neither does runtime at maximum output — all three deliver roughly 1 hour 42 minutes per battery on their top setting. Specifying a higher model buys a higher ceiling, not a longer day at that ceiling.

Why Specify Headroom at Purchase

Where a device is funded from a participant plan, a DVA entitlement or a home care package, it is bought once against a review cycle. If the prescribed setting later rises beyond what the device can deliver, the unit has to be replaced — and a replacement is rarely funded before the next review.

That makes the gap between the P2-E and the P2-E6 a specification decision rather than a budget one. Where a prescriber has indicated the requirement may increase, or the client desaturates on exertion while sitting comfortably at a lower setting, the sixth setting is cheap insurance against an unfunded mid-cycle replacement. Where the prescription is stable and well within five settings, the P2-E is the correct specification and the E6 is over-specified.

Standardising Across Multiple Devices

For providers running more than one concentrator, the shared chassis is worth knowing about. The P2-E, P2-E6 and P2-E7 use the same battery, the same air filters, the same single-lumen nasal cannula, the same carry case and the same 23 alert codes on the display. A mixed fleet can therefore be supported from one spares holding and one set of staff instructions, which is not true of a fleet assembled from different manufacturers.

Clinical Indications

Indicated for ambulant patients prescribed supplemental oxygen where the prescription is expressed as a pulse dose setting and sits in the mid range, or may move there. Not suitable where continuous flow has been prescribed, where oxygen is required during sleep, or where the patient cannot tolerate a nasal cannula — pulse delivery depends on detecting inspiration, which becomes unreliable as breathing grows shallow and irregular during sleep.

Service Life and Consumables

The device raises a battery replacement alert at 500 charge cycles or when battery health falls below 50% — approximately 16 to 18 months at one charge per day. The sieve bed is modular and field-replaceable, and alarms when replacement is due rather than degrading silently. Replacement filters and cannulas are available through oxygen therapy accessories.

Warranty is three years standard, extending to five at no cost when the device is registered with Kingon within 14 days of purchase, with 12 months on the battery and sieve bed. The registration window is short — register at handover rather than leaving it to the client.
