The Kingon P2-E is a pulse dose portable oxygen concentrator delivering up to 1,000 ml/min — approximately equivalent to 5 LPM — across five flow settings, at 90% oxygen concentration (−3% / +6%) at every setting. At 1.98kg including its battery it is the lightest device in our portable concentrator range, and is included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods.

How It Compares to Our Other Portable Concentrators

MEC stocks several portable concentrators and they are not interchangeable. The P2-E's distinguishing characteristic is mass: at 1.98kg it sits well below the typical 2.3–2.5kg of comparable pulse dose units, which is the difference between a device an elderly or frail user carries independently and one a carer ends up carrying for them. Where the P2-E Sits in the Kingon Range

The P2-E is the entry model of three that share the same chassis. It is the correct specification for a stable prescription within five settings — but the cheapest unit is only the cheapest outcome if it covers the requirement.

Weight is identical across all three, and so is runtime at maximum output. What changes is the ceiling. Where a prescriber has indicated the requirement may rise, the P2-E6 adds a sixth setting; where the longest runtime at low settings matters operationally, the P2-E7 runs seven hours on setting 1 rather than five.

Clinical Indications

The P2-E is indicated for patients prescribed supplemental oxygen who are ambulant and whose prescription is expressed as a pulse dose setting. It suits participants and clients whose therapy currently restricts them to the home because a cylinder or stationary unit cannot travel, and it is frequently the right specification where the goal recorded in a plan is community access or maintaining independence.

It is not suitable where continuous flow has been prescribed, where oxygen is required during sleep, or where the patient cannot tolerate a nasal cannula. Pulse dose delivery depends on detecting inspiration, and detection becomes unreliable during sleep as breathing grows shallow and irregular.

Service Life and Whole-of-Life Cost

Worth establishing before purchase, particularly where the device is being funded from a plan or package with a defined review period:

• Batteries — the device raises a replacement alert at 500 charge cycles or when battery health falls below 50%. At one charge per day that is reached in approximately 16 to 18 months. Two batteries are supplied, so budget accordingly at that interval.
• Sieve bed — modular and field-replaceable. The device alarms when replacement is required rather than degrading silently.
• Air filters — a set of five is supplied. Replacement filters and cannulas are available through our portable concentrator accessories.
• Warranty — three years standard, extending to five years at no cost when the device is registered with Kingon within 14 days of purchase. Battery and sieve bed are covered for 12 months. The registration window is short and easily missed; register at the point of handover.

Regulatory and Funding

The Kingon P2-E is included in the ARTG under entry 321141. Servicing is supported through an Australian network, so a repair does not mean returning the device overseas.
